BETWEEN MEMORY AND MODERNITY

The project was conceived within a 17th-century Sicilian palace, a historic building that strongly influenced the design choices. The aim was to create a contemporary kitchen designed for a young family, while recapturing the atmosphere and spaciousness of kitchens of the past. A dialogue between memory and modernity, between Sicilian tradition and contemporary sensibility.

The interiors follow the genius loci of the place, combining a contemporary style with suggestions from the past. The result is an eclectic environment, made up of local materials, warm colours, traditional lighting elements and period furnishings combined with works of art and more modern interventions.
The kitchen is conceived as a set of distinct but connected rooms – pantry, main kitchen, cellar – reflecting the functional structure of houses of the past. Consistency is ensured by the colour palette and finishes, which act as a common thread between the spaces.
This is where HenryGlass partition systems come in, designed to define the spaces in the cellar, enclosing them as if in a treasure chest but without completely separating them from the rest of the environment. The partitions in transparent extralight glass, with black GRID profiles, create light and sophisticated glass display cases that reinterpret the traditional concept of a door with a contemporary look that respects the location.
